In a display of unity, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, a Member of Parliament, from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), has expressed her support for singer Shubh amidst a controversy. She emphasized that there is no need for him to prove his love for his country. Singer Shubh had faced the cancellation of his India tour due to allegations of supporting Khalistani sympathizers. This year Shubh shared a map of India on his Instagram account that did not include Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and the Northeastern states.
Harsimrat Kaur Badal, who was previously aligned with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) voiced her support for Shubh on her X ( Twitter) account, stating, “We stand with you Singer Shubh. Your patriotism does not require any validation because you are a son of Punjab and India.” She urged citizens not to fall prey to conspiracies aimed at branding individuals, like Shubh and those advocating for Punjab as anti-national.
Joining in the wave of support is Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC). He strongly opposed labelling individuals who advocate for Punjab as anti-national.
Mr. Warring made it clear that although the Punjab Congress is, against the concept of Khalistan and actively opposes any national activities, it would be unfair to brand young Punjabi’s like Shubh, as anti-nationals.
Raja Warring strongly condemned the propaganda designed to undermine Punjabis considering it highly reprehensible. He emphasized the importance of standing against efforts to tarnish the image of Punjabi youth.
