The Punjab government is paying special attention to the education of the children of the Scheduled Caste community in Punjab. To this end, the Punjab government runs the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme, under which the government covers the education expenses of Scheduled Caste students. This scheme is being implemented smoothly under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
An amount of ₹245 crore was reserved in the 2024-25 budget. Under this, the Punjab government has released ₹92 crore from its share for students. Providing further details, Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that over 678,000 students have benefited from post-matric scholarships in the last three years of the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. The state government has now affiliated 11 different colleges, where students can seek admission based on merit.

These colleges include AIIMS Bathinda, IIT Ropar, NIT Jalandhar, IIM Amritsar, Institute of Hotel Management Gurdaspur, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Mohali, NIT Mohali, ISI Chandigarh, Thapar University Patiala, Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law Patiala, IISER Mohali.
