A young soldier from Ludhiana sacrificed his life in a blast in the Baroodi Tunnel in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir. The martyr has been identified as Agniveer Ajay Singh, a resident of Ludhiana and the lone brother among six sisters.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced comprehensive support for the martyr’s family through a tweet. The Chief Minister expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the brave soldier, Ajay Singh, who lost his life in a landmine blast in the Ramgarh Sardaran village of Khanna in Jammu’s Rajouri. He saluted the courageous soldier’s dedication to the nation and assured the family of all possible assistance, as promised by the government. The Chief Minister’s tweet conveyed, “In the landmine blast in Rajouri, 23-year-old Agniveer soldier Ajay Singh from Khanna’s Ramgarh Sardaran village has been martyred. Offering sincere condolences to the family, he saluted the brave soldier’s dedication to the country. The government will provide all possible help to the family. Our soldiers make us proud, whether they are Agniveer or not.”
It is noteworthy that on Thursday morning around 10 AM, a team of the army was patrolling near Pokhra Chowki in the Kalal area of the Nowshera sector. During this patrol, the team inadvertently entered the Baroodi Tunnel, resulting in a powerful explosion. Three soldiers present at the scene suffered severe injuries and were promptly taken to the hospital. While undergoing treatment, Agniveer Ajay Singh from Ludhiana succumbed to his injuries, marking a tragic loss.
Earlier, the Punjab government had conferred the martyr status to Amritpal Singh, acknowledging his sacrifice. The incidents underscore the challenging conditions faced by soldiers in border areas and the profound impact on their families. The government’s commitment to supporting the families of the martyrs remains a crucial aspect in acknowledging and honoring the sacrifices made by these valiant soldiers in service to the nation.
