Pathankot: Regarding the murder of Deepak Kumar, which was connected to the consumption of alcohol in Matti village SSP Pathankot, Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, has called upon Surindarpal Singh, the SHO of Shahpurkandi for an investigation. It is important to note that Deepak was killed following a dispute over alcohol consumption. The police had filed a case. Apprehended Balvir Singh from Matti village in relation to this incident. On Saturday, Deepak’s family members staged a protest by placing his body on the road and demanding action against the liquor mafia.

There have been allegations that the sale of illicit liquor is rampant in the area. The Panchayat had previously lodged complaints with Shahpurkandi police regarding this issue; however, no action was taken. Consequently, the SHO has been summoned for inquiries related to liquor sales. The SSP mentioned that villagers from Matti had also participated in protests highlighting their concerns about the sale of alcohol.
