Firozpur: The Vigilance Bureau has initiated a case against Sunny Sharma, a revenue officer posted in Firozpur revenue circle, Firozshah, for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹3000 and demanding an additional ₹2000 through the Paytm app. The corruption case was registered following a complaint lodged online by Rakhpal Singh of the anti-corruption crusader line in Saidoke village.
According to the complainant, the accused patwari had demanded a bribe of ₹5000 to manipulate the revenue records related to his sister-in-law’s agricultural land, which had been fraudulently altered by his predecessor. The complainant alleges that the patwari had already accepted ₹3000 as a bribe and demanded an additional ₹2000 to be transferred to his Paytm account.
The complainant submitted a recording of the patwari’s conversation as evidence to the Vigilance Bureau. The bureau conducted an investigation based on the complaint and found merit in the allegations. As a result, a case has been registered in the Vigilance Bureau Firozpur Range.
The move reflects the government’s commitment to combating corruption and promoting transparency in administrative processes. The online platform for filing complaints demonstrates the utilization of technology in addressing corruption-related issues promptly. The Vigilance Bureau’s prompt action against the accused revenue officer underscores the commitment to maintaining integrity in public services and holding officials accountable for corrupt practices.
The case against Sunny Sharma is expected to undergo thorough scrutiny, and legal proceedings will determine the course of action against the accused. The government’s anti-corruption measures, combined with citizen engagement through online reporting, contribute to fostering a corruption-free environment and ensuring accountability in public service.
