Fatehgarh Sahib: An explosion took place in a moving train near Sirhind Railway Station at around 10:30 pm on Saturday night. The explosion took place in the general compartment of the Howrah Mail running from Amritsar.

The explosion was caused by the firecrackers kept in a bucket. Hearing the sound of the explosion, about 20 passengers jumped from the moving train. Four of these passengers were injured.

The injured have been identified as Ajay Kumar and his wife Sangeeta Kumari, residents of Bhojpur Piru Bihar, Ashutosh Pal of Uttar Pradesh and Sonu Kumar, resident of Nawada Bazar Bihar. The injured are admitted in Civil Hospital Fatehgarh Sahib. GRP and RPF have started investigating the case.

GRP DSP Jagmohan Singh said that all the injured passengers are fine. Initial investigation revealed that there was a bucket in the train which contained firecrackers. It suddenly caught fire and there was an explosion. It is not yet known which passenger’s bucket it was. Police is investigating.
