Jalandhar: The drug menace has severely impacted the youth of Punjab, pushing many into a cycle of addiction with devastating consequences. Keeping this in mind, the Punjab government under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Mann launched its war against drugs, wherein Village Defence Committee took oath not to allow drugs to be sold in their area and encourage affected youth towards rehabilitation.

Studies reveal a high prevalence of substance abuse among young adults, with a significant number involved with opioids like heroin. This addiction leads to immense personal suffering, affecting their health, education, and future prospects. Many young addicts face social stigma, family distress, and an increased risk of contracting diseases. The crisis demands urgent attention, focusing on prevention, rehabilitation, and providing youth with viable alternatives to escape this destructive path.

“Today, the revolutionary people of Punjab who arrived at the Village Defence Committee meeting held under the ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign in Jalandhar took an oath not to allow drugs to be sold in their area and to get treatment for people suffering from drug addiction. With your support, we will soon uproot the roots of drug addiction from the land of Punjab through the people’s movement against drugs. —- Today, the revolutionary people of Punjab who arrived at the Village Defence Committee meeting held under the ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign in Jalandhar took an oath not to allow drugs to be sold in their area and to get treatment for people suffering from drug addiction.
