The officiating Jathedar of Akal Takht, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, has summoned Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann to appear at its secretariat on Jan 15 over alleged “anti-Sikh remarks”, “objectionable conduct”, and a recently surfaced video that the Takht says deeply hurt Sikh sentiments.

“The order from Sri Akal Takht Sahib Ji is on my head. Das will not be present as the Chief Minister but as a humble Sikh walking barefoot. Das will be present on January 15th, when the Honorable President of the country is coming to participate in a conference at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar Sahib. He also apologizes for that day. Because for me, the best order from Sri Akal Takht Sahib Ji and that holy Takht Sahib is on my head..was..and will always be.”, wrote CM Mann on X.

Mann, not known to take things lying down, held a press conference last week, where he accused the SAD of trying to use the SGPC as a shield against “their misdeeds, including the 328 missing saroops”.

The FIR in the case was registered after the political fortunes of SAD were seen rising, post their performance in the Tarn Taran bypoll. After the arrest of former SGPC auditor SS Kohli in the case, the investigation was seen to veer tow
