Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia’s judicial custody, arrested in the disproportionate assets case, has been extended by 14 more days. The Mohali court gave this decision after he was produced today, under which he will now remain in jail till August 2, 2025. Earlier also the court had approved his judicial custody for 14 days, which was ending today.
Punjab Vigilance Bureau has intensified the investigation in this case. Today, the Vigilance team raided the alleged benami properties of Bikram Majithia. Joint teams of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and Vigilance Bureau are conducting raids at many places, including Chandigarh and Delhi. Investigation is also going on in Delhi’s Sainik Farm, which is included in the list of Majithia’s benami properties. The value of these properties is said to be between Rs 150 to 200 crore.
The technical team of Vigilance is busy gathering evidence and is also investigating shell companies linked to Majithia and his family. These companies are suspected of circulating drug money. This raid is being conducted on the basis of statements of witnesses.
Bikram Majithia is accused of possessing disproportionate assets and drug-related cases. Vigilance says that many important evidences have come to light during the investigation, on the basis of which the action has been intensified. Investigation of benami properties and shell companies is likely to lead to new revelations in this case.
