In their operation on Sunday, the GRP in Bathinda, Punjab, got their hands on nine iron rods on the tracks of the Delhi-Bathinda Express. To this day, the reason behind the positioning of these rods on the tracks is unknown, and that is why a case has been lodged with the GRP against unknown persons, and a detailed investigation has been initiated into the incident.
The Investigating Officer of the GRP in Bathinda, Punjab, Shavinder Kumar, said, “Yes, nine iron rods have been recovered from the site.” A police case has been deposited against unknown persons, and the matter is under investigation. This incident must be discussed in connection with many other recent cases, as large numbers of suspicious objects have been identified on railway tracks across the country. Some officials feared that such things could link to a conspiracy to dismantle the track rails, resulting in increased safety risks.
In a related development, a major tragedy was averted on the same day when the loco pilot of a goods train detected a gas cylinder lying on the tracks near Prempur station in Uttar Pradesh. Failing that, the pilot panicked, slammed the emergency brakes, and was able to stop the train to avoid damaging it or anything inside it. Some of the railway employees, such as IOW, security personnel, and some others, were told that the cylinder was actually empty and contained only five liters of gas when they first got to the scene.
According to the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North Central Railway, “The cylinder has been lifted off the tracks and a report has been made to launch an inquiry into the matter.” This occurrence, together with the utilization of iron rods, also directs the notion that there is a need for more alerts and security in the rail transport system to minimize any form of danger in the carriage of passengers.
