The accused involved in an alleged rape of a 26-year-old woman at Swargate bus depot has been released by the Pune Police in a poster. Authorities are now in the midst of an extensive manhunt after the incident, which has shocked the city. A news agency says the accused is Dattatray Ramdas Gade, 37, a resident of Gunat T. Shirur in Pune district.

The police have announced a reward of ₹1 lakh for anyone identified credible information toward his capture. Law enforcement released the poster, which shows the sections of the 2023 legal code under which the case has been registered against Gade, namely 64 and 351(2).

An FIR under Section 64, 351(2) of 2023 has been registered against the accused Dattatray Ramdas Gade. The official notice states that he is a wanted suspect in the case. Authorities have promised all informants that their name would remain anonymous on the premise that more information will be forthcoming.

Pune has reacted in horror to the crime, which is now drawing condemnations from citizens and activists across the country demanding speedy action against the culprit. Special teams of the police are working to trace the suspect while further search operations have been intensified by the police. Anyone with that relevant information has been asked by them to come forward and help to bring the accused to justice.

At the same time, law enforcement agencies are also looking at other security measures in public places such as bus depots or transport hubs to tackle such incidents in the future.
