Bengaluru: In a related development, a court has remanded the detention of ex-JD MP Prajwal Revanna until June 10. There are accusations of abuse from multiple women that he has interacted with intimately. SIT had earlier detained him up to June 6, and the duration was extended to enable the police to carry out further probes. It may be noted that recently, Prajwal Revanna, aged 33, who is the grandson of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, was defeated for Rayalasaeral in the elections.
The court agreed to the request to grant additional time, citing the severity of the case as the reason. The SIT further sought permission for an extension because it needed more time to secure evidence and make further interrogations. This was after Revanna was arrested by SIT officials upon his arrival at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru from Germany on May 31. The investigation began on April 27, the day after the polls in Hassan`s jurisdiction, when he left for Germany.
Further, a Global notice, ‘Blue Corner Notice’, was issued by Interpol to the CBI-SIT on behalf of the Education Ministry before arresting him. The Karnataka police needed to arrest Revanna to respond to a case initiated by a Special Court for Elected Representatives on May 18 based on an application filed by the SIT.
The accusations against him originated from a complaint filed on April 28 in Holenarasipura, Hassan district, where the key allegations include harassment of a former maid, with his father—MLA H D Revanna—also named in the lawsuit.
