According to Nainar Nagenthran, Piyush Goyal will visit Chennai on Monday to sort out the seat-sharing in the impending Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The visit should have been instrumental in the electoral strategy and alliance structure of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state.
In an interview with the press, Nagenthran stated that negotiations with Goyal were to assist in deciding the formula of sharing seats as well as the alliance arrangement of the party. He also indicated that information on the election BJP manifesto would also be leaked after such top meetings.
The announcement is given in the context of mounting political exchanges between the BJP and the then ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. In reaction to the criticism by the Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Nagenthran alleged that the DMK leadership was shaken by the rising popularity of the BJP in the state. He disregarded the external influence allegations pointing out that the BJP actions, however, taking place in Delhi or other states was a normal political operation.
In discussing the development projects Nagenthran mentioned the central government-supported major infrastructure projects such as Thoothukudi and Trichy airports expansions among others as evidence of its dedication to developing the state of Tamil Nadu.
He also attacked the state government on the issue of law and order especially the problem of drug trafficking and the recent cases of violence. As the elections neared, BJP is putting more vigorous efforts in campaigning, and the visit by Goyal will help in arranging alliances and reinforcing the electoral roadmap by the party in the state.
