Actor-turned-politician Pawan has been made one of the cabinet ministers in Andhra Pradesh, while the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief has become the Chief ministerial candidate. Kalyan, the President of the Janasena Party and one of the allied partners of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), became the leader of the Legislative Party on Tuesday.
TDP, Janasena Party, and Bharatiya Janata Party participated in NDA and tasted grand victory in the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections, winning 164 out of 175 seats. TDP aimed to win 135 assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh, while the Janasena Party aimed for 21, and BJP targeted 8.
According to the reports, Pawan Kalyan may emerge as the deputy chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. The incumbent Kalyan was successful in the recent assembly polls by winning the Pithapuram assembly constituency in East Godavari district. This symbiotic relationship brought the Janasena Party to create an impressive result in the elections, winning all the assembly and Lok Sabha seats that it contested for that state.
The actor and leader of the Jana Sena Party is younger than Chiranjeevi and rose to fame in the Telugu movie industry. Akhil started his acting career in the film ‘Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi’ released in 1996 and then entertained the audience in movies such as ‘Tholi Prema’, ‘Gabbar Singh’ and ‘Attarintiki Daredi’ for which he got the Filmfare Best Actor Award in Telugu.
Kalyan entered Journalism in 2009 and later entered the political world in 2014, forming the Janasena Party. Swamy’s introduction into politics came after a stint as a movie actor after the Kapu community was dissatisfied with Chiranjeevi’s decision to dissolve his party into the congress, which in future subdued Chiranjeevi out of politics when his party lost support.
Although slow initially, Kalyan’s Janasena Party captured the public attention towards the 2019 assembly elections by looking at issues like the lapsed Modi government and the State’s demand for special category status for the new capital, Amaravati.
