Bhubaneshwar: In preparation for the 2024 elections, the Congress party made significant changes to its organizational structure on Saturday. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) revealed the names of 12 individuals who will be responsible for overseeing the party’s activities in states, including Odisha. As part of this restructuring, Dr. Ajoy Kumar has been appointed as the person in charge of the Congress in Odisha, taking over from Dr. Chellakumar.
Dr Ajoy Kumar, a Member of Parliament from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, has now taken on the responsibility of overseeing the party’s operations in Odisha. Additionally he has also been given the task of supervising party activities in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
At the time, Dr. Chellakumar, who previously held the position of Odisha in charge, has been entrusted with overseeing party affairs in Meghalaya, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh. This strategic realignment is part of the Congress party’s efforts to strengthen its structure and expand its presence across states in preparation for future elections.
Given his experience and past role as a parliamentarian, Dr Ajoy Kumar is well equipped to lead the party in Odisha. Under his leadership, Congress aims to rejuvenate its members and enhance outreach within the state. This decision is viewed as a measure taken by the party to introduce viewpoints and enthusiasm into its leadership positions.
