The number of COVID-19 cases in Gautam Budh Nagar rose quickly to 19 as of Monday, so health experts are staying vigilant. District health officials report that all affected individuals are in home isolation and receiving medical care.
There have been eighteen cities affected so far, with eight men and eleven women affected. The patients are between 24 and 71 years old. All the individuals are home and in good condition, added Dr. Tikam Singh, Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Noida.
During the last three days, the number of cases rose by 15—one on Saturday, eight on Sunday, and six on Monday. “We are carefully watching the situation and stand ready to act if the cases go up,” said Dr. Narendra Kumar, Chief Medical Officer of Gautam Budh Nagar.
In the new cases, a 43-year-old man from Sector 119 arrived from Chennai. Of the remaining cases, none traveled, and they are residents of Noida or Greater Noida, which could mean transmission took place locally. Most cases were found at private hospitals and diagnostic centers, and just one case involved brief hospitalisation before returning home for care.
Officials in health care add that none of the people who were identified as close contacts have displayed any symptoms. Testing will only take place if someone has symptoms. Meanwhile, samples are being requested from private hospitals for genome sequencing and will be sent to labs in Delhi or Lucknow for study.
The district is able to deal with any further deterioration. Oxygen plants in seven government hospitals are working after recent rehearsals. An isolation ward at the district hospital, set up for COVID-19 cases, remains ready to be put into action at any time.
“I want to reassure people,” said the ICMR’s Dr. Rajiv Bahl, “We should not worry yet about the increase in Covid cases.”
