The state however is preparing to bring in the new government on Thursday, November 20, after the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) swept through the Bihar assembly elections in a sweeping victory. The shift will officially start once the current government will be dissolved on November 19. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will resign on November 19 so that the actual process of forming a government could begin, according to the outgoing cabinet minister Vijay Kumar Chowdhary of the Janata Dal United (JDU).
The oath-taking ceremony of the new government will be conducted in Gandhi Maidan on November 20 and this was confirmed by state minister and BJP leader Prem Kumar after a cabinet meeting on Monday. He further noted that it will be a historic event and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as lakhs of people will be present. Though there has been no official declaration made on the successor to the present chief minister; there are some rumours that Nitish Kumar, the longest serving CM in Bihar, might take up the Chief minister position once again.
Working president of JDU Sanjay Kumar Jha said it was being ready to hold the ceremony like never before. He characterised it as an occurrence that deserved the emphatic electoral mandate of the NDA and which was indicative of the expectations of the people in development of next generation leadership by Nitish Kumar. It is also likely that senior leaders of the BJP and central ministers will attend the occasion.
With lobbying underway inside the alliance, the NDA is said to be scheduled to allocate the ministerial portfolios in their ability of legislature with about one ministerial portfolio every six MLAs. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United) or JD(U), Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) or HAM(S) are the members of the coalition. This formula is to maintain equilibrium in representation of all the member parties and at the same time unity and stability in the government.
