Bihar Cabinet, the newly formed Cabinet, held its first meeting on Tuesday, with an ambitious proposal of providing the state with one crore jobs in the next five years to young people in the state. Talking to the media after the meeting conducted by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit said that the road map of the government was based on large scale employment and rapid industrialization.
He stated that Bihar intends to become a large technology hub in the eastern part of India. Under this vision, the state will have a defence corridor, semiconductor manufacturing park, global capacity centres, a mega tech city and a fitness city. It is such efforts, he said, that will collectively help Bihar to build the presence in the new tech economy.
Amrit also added on how Bihar will be transformed into a back-end hub and global work place within the next five years, taking advantage of the increasing need of remote services and tech-enabled work across the globe. The government has also formed a committee to design employment-oriented strategies specifically to start-up ecosystem in order to support innovation and entrepreneurship. This committee will direct itself towards the establishment of viable livelihoods to skilled and ambitious young entrepreneurs in the state.
As another important step, the Cabinet accepted the establishment of a state-level Artificial Intelligence Mission that would make Bihar a leader in the sphere of AI. The project will facilitate research, skills, and AI application in governance, education, health, and agriculture.
On the whole, the initial Cabinet meeting was an indicator of a strong desire to focus on job creation among young people, technological development, and economic change over a long period. The new initiatives of the government can be seen as a strategic initiative to modernize the economy of Bihar and to provide opportunities to the economy in accordance to the global trends in the industry.
