Bhubaneshwar: Nandankanan Zoo, a popular destination for both tourists and animal enthusiasts, is set to unveil four new animal species from December 29. The zoo, situated in the heart of the city, has recently welcomed four unique members to its diverse family, enriching the experience for visitors.
Starting December 29, tourists and wildlife enthusiasts will have the opportunity to witness four new animal species at Nandankanan Zoo. The zoo has introduced two distinct species, the medium-sized marsupial Wallaby from the kangaroo family and Livingstone’s Turaco, a bird species belonging to the Musophagidae family. These new additions have been carefully brought in from a private farm in Hyderabad.
Ensuring the well-being of the new members, the animals are currently undergoing quarantine in special enclosures within the zoo. Once acclimated to the local environment, the new arrivals will be shifted to designated enclosures. Despite the transfer, continuous monitoring by veterinary specialists will be maintained to ensure their health and adaptation.
In a related development, PCCF (Wildlife) Sushant Nand announced that the zoo would remain open on December 25, responding to the public demand. Nand expressed joy at the overwhelming response from the public and took to social media, stating, “I am pleased to announce that in response to the significant demand from the public, Nandankanan Zoological Park will remain open on Monday, December 25.”
As the celebration of Nandankanan’s Foundation Day approaches on December 29, visitors will have the chance to witness and appreciate the new additions. The zoo authorities are dedicated to providing a memorable and educational experience for all visitors, combining entertainment with conservation efforts.
Nandankanan Zoo, with its commitment to wildlife preservation and education, continues to be a beacon for conservation initiatives and an exciting destination for those seeking a closer encounter with the fascinating world of animals.
