Government sources said it has briefed the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on an initial investigation into the recent violence in Murshidabad, where the involvement of alleged Bangladeshi miscreants has been pointed out. It is also the probe that suggests that once these people received this support from some local leaders, they may have originally got it. But over time,e they became unmanageable, and the tensions in the region increased.
After viewing the situation, the MHA is keeping a close watch on all sensitive districts of West Bengal, including Murshidabad. On Saturday, the West Bengal Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police were in a high-level conversation with Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan. He had promised all the possible central assistance during the discussion and had requested the administration to take immediate immediate and effective measures to reinstate the state of affairs in the affected areas.
The total number of troops deployed by the MHA in Murshidabad is close to 900 as nearly nine companies of Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have been deployed to strengthen security and help maintain order. These included obviously 300 BSF men already stationed here, and companies have been sent at the request of the state government.
West Bengal officials are constantly in touch with Govind Mohan to provide help in a coordinated manner. He stressed that vigilance and proactive steps needed to be taken in other potentially volatile regions in order to prevent further unrest. It highlights the seriousness of the situation and is part of the broader country’s concern about cross-border factors influencing local dynamics.
Investigations into the origins and escalation of the violence continue, so the goal of the deployment and high-level coordination is to restore peace and reassure the local population.
