The onslaught came a day after the Congress party suffered a major blow in the Haryana Assembly elections, where it managed to win only 31 seats in a house of 90 with its allies. Modi said this during a virtual speech following the launch of development projects in Maharashtra, amounting to ₹ 7,619.50 crore. He accused Congress of trying to polarise Hindus and cause splits between groups, further accusing the party of trying to foment unrest.
BJP retained Haryana for a third successive time and achieved its historical performance by grabbing 48 seats among the 90 seats of the Assembly. While in Congress, it lagged far behind, winning 37 seats. Prime Minister Modi said this win was important and again emphasized that the public has faith in the BJP’s administration. The saffron party secured 40 seats and 36.49 % of the votes in the 2019 elections; however, in these elections, its percentage was up to 39.94%. Likewise, Congress marginally improved its vote share, from 28.08 percent in 2019 to 39.09 percent; but this was insufficient to win the seat.
Modi also said that the win was for the nation’s overall mood to support the government’s policies. He also mentioned the Maharashtra results, which show the significance of these results before going to polls.
Addressing an election rally in Rohtak, Modi said the entire Congress ecosystem was involved in having falsely hafted the people of Haryana. He requested that Dalit people question Congress’s strategies and noticed the party’s alleged plan of nullifying their quotas in a bid to enshrine political power from them while seeking votes from other communities. Modi also accused the Congress of wanting to start a rebellion by farmers and youth. However, he said that BJP stakeholders opted for development, which was the preferred strategy.
