Hosur: A massive fire broke out at Tata Electronics manufacturing plant at Hosur, Tamil Nadu in the morning on Saturday. The fire, which started at the cellphone manufacturing segment of the manufacturing centre, caused employees to evacuate the premise on the spot, based on the primary information. The fire is believed to have started around 5:30 a.m. in the mobile phone accessories painting unit at Uddanapalli, near Nagamangalam. When fire moved from one part of the building to the other, thick black smoke filled the environment leading to chaotic scrambling among the workers as well as residents.

Fire brigades provided quick answers and several fire engines were sent to the place in order to extinguish the massive fire. Fortunately, there has been no case of accidents; however, about 1,500 employees were on-shift during the first shift. Newspaper variants in the region reported excessive property losses from the fire and this has created alarm over the general effects on the facility.

Moneycontrol has contacted a representative of Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL), who has acknowledged the accident and admitted that the appropriate measures have been taken to secure everyone. He also stated that an inquiry is underway to establish the root cause of the fire and that proactive steps shall be taken by the company to protect the self and others subsequent to the event.

From the police officials’ records, three employees were taken to a private hospital with respiratory complications as a result of inhaling smoke. Because of this, over 100 police officers were hired in order to ensure that the evacuation was well conducted and security was enhanced at the scene.

During the ongoing inquiry, Tata Electronics is in a close touch with the concerned authorities to evaluate the losses and decide what’s best in terms of the clean-up process and security.
