A massive fire broke out at the Lotus Grandeur banquet hall in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, late Wednesday at around 3 AM in the wee hours and claimed the life of an electrician on the spot.
The fire tender incident developed fast, and since it was a real emergency, the disaster management team was on the scene in just ten minutes, with 15 fire tenders included. Noida DCP Ram Badan Singh confirmed that they received reports of the fire around 3:30 AM. According to a local television report, firefighters fought for several hours to put out the massive fire, but the large structure which made the intensive fighting go on for several more hours. Nevertheless, the quick response was paid for by the fire’s increased activity and the size of the banquet hall.
Sadly, Parminder, an electrician who was working at the time of the event, died. Investigations on the root cause of the fire are still ongoing, and to this date, no official reason has been given. The witnesses said there were flames and lots of smoke coming out of the building, which caused concerns over the fire precautions in the facility.
The banquet hall that has been organizing events and functions has been one of the leading halls in Noida up to this incident and has raised many eyebrows regarding the fire safeguarding in the halls. In their own probes, local officials are also likely to examine the fire safety level of similar spots to avoid similar calamities.
Later, emergency services promised to analyze the incident, find out the reasons for the fire, and check all the safety codes required to be followed in the future. This unfortunate occurrence shows the ‘need to take fire precautions measures, especially in areas where large numbers of people tend to congregate. There was an outpouring of sorrow within the local community when the young electrician died, while there have been many demands for better safety measures for the workers and the guests.
