Security forces in Manipur have again seized huge arms, ammunition as well as explosives, drug items and apprehended some persons from different places in Manipur, claimed a police press statement on Friday night.

The operations were carried out jointly by security forces in the hill and valley districts with a specific emphasis on high-risk and margin areas. During one of the operations, forces seized a number of firearms and explosives, among which were one MA4 assault rifle, a 12-bore single-barrel gun, a 9mm pistol, a 32 pistol, 5 hand grenades, 5 arming rings, 2 detonators, and several rounds of ammunition. They also found an internet satellite antenna and router and about 20 meters of FTP cables in Keirao Khunou of Imphal East district.

A parallel search was conducted in Bamdiar Awang Leikai, in district Bishnupur, which led to the recovery of more weapons and furnishings. The articles seized were: an SLR rifle with a magazine, two .303 rifles, one pump-action gun, and three sleeping bags, those articles were used for operation such us a mobile charger, cap and badges of KCP(PWG). They also recovered 40 rounds of ammunition during the operation, which shows the extent of the vices afoot.

There was another major incident when on Thursday, security forces arrested four people from Laijang village in Churachandpur district. Among those arrested were three Indians and one KNF militant, the local people accused of ruling local communities with gun power. The arrested suspects include Thangsiam Haokip, aged 27 years, Kamlian, aged 34 years; Malsom, aged 20 years; and Jaipu Doujaithang, aged 42 years. These arrests are considered significant in halting the acts of lawlessness in the region.

The authorities have vowed to continue their operations with a view of restoring order.
