Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal and the supremo of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), has expressed confidence in the upcoming Assembly polls in the state. She has claimed that her party is likely to win more than 226 seats in the polls scheduled for 2026.
Banerjee announced the party’s candidate list and the party’s strategy for the polls at a press conference in Kolkata. She claimed that the TMC will contest the polls in 291 out of the 294 Assembly seats in the state. The remaining three seats in the Darjeeling hills will be contested by the TMC’s ally, the BGPM, led by Anit Thapa.
Banerjee has also confirmed her decision to contest the polls from the Bhabanipur constituency, a key constituency in the state. Banerjee expressed optimism about the polls and claimed that the TMC is in a position to retain power with a decisive mandate. Banerjee claimed that the TMC’s good governance and connection with the people at the grassroots will play a major role in the polls. Banerjee also addressed the concerns of the TMC leaders and workers, saying that they will be accommodated within the party.
