Bastar: The Maoist organization has suffered a major setback. Two high-ranking leaders, Central Committee member Palluri Prasad Rao alias Shankaranna alias Chandranna and Telangana State Committee member Bandi Prakash alias Prabhat, have renounced the path of violence and surrendered. Both leaders surrendered today before Telangana DGP Shivadhar Reddy. The DGP welcomed the two Maoist leaders into the mainstream and presented them with rehabilitation checks.
According to information, Palluri Prasad Rao (64) had been associated with the CPI (Maoist) for the past 45 years, and Bandi Prakash for the past 42. Both had been living underground for a long time and were active at the strategic and leadership levels of the organization.
Palluri Prasad Rao alias Shankaranna, a member of the organization’s central committee, hails from Vadakapur village in Peddapalli district, Telangana. His father was a headmaster at a government school, and his mother is a homemaker. Bandi Prakash alias Prabhat, a member of the organization’s state committee (SCM), also hails from Telangana.
Both leaders formally renounced the path of violence and surrendered today before Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Shivadhar Reddy. DGP Reddy personally welcomed the former extremists back into the mainstream society, emphasizing the government’s commitment to rehabilitation over retribution. He presented both leaders with rehabilitation checks as part of the state’s surrender and rehabilitation policy, which is designed to help former cadres integrate back into civilian life and find gainful employment.
