Bhopal: A 32-year-old woman was allegedly raped by an acquaintance on the pretext of marriage for around ten months in Berasia. The case was reported to the police. Investigating Officer SI Sahab Singh said that the survivor is a resident of Gunga locality and she works at a private firm.
In her complaint to the police, she stated that around a year ago she came in contact with the accused, a resident of Badwai, who is a distant relative and a colleague of hers. SI Singh said that the accused lured her into his trap and promised to marry her. In September 2020, he moved to a rented flat in Berasia along with the survivor and allegedly outraged her modesty by promising to marry her.
Since then, he was repeatedly raping her but around a few days ago when the survivor pressured the accused to get married; he went back on his word. Left with no other option, she decided to approach the Berasia police station. Acting on her complaint, a case was registered and further investigations are on. The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault.
