Chhattarpur: A 24-year-old woman was allegedly kicked out of a moving train by a co-passenger near Chattarpur district in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday evening after a failed rape attempt. Jabalpur SP (GRP) Vinayak Verma said on Friday that a case under section 307 (attempt to murder) and 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) is being registered in this case.
“We have specific leads on the accused and he would be arrested soon,” Verma said. She is undergoing treatment at a government health facility where doctors informed police about critical injuries on her head and other parts of the body. She was spotted in an unconscious state by a railway employee who rang up the police control room. The victim is a resident of Uttar Pradesh and was in Chattarpur to visit Bhageshwar Dham temple- located 34 km away from the district headquarters on Khajuraho- Panna road.
She had boarded the general compartment of Khajuraho- Mahoba Express Special passenger train (01822). The altercation took place near Raj Nagar station where the train reaches at 5.20 pm. There were no passengers in the coach other than the youth who had boarded seconds before the train departed. As the train started moving, the youth tried to initiate lewd conversations with her, which she ignored. He then shifted closer to her berth and forced himself on her.
“I managed to escape and ran towards the next coach. He caught me again since it was also empty. This time I bit his finger so hard that it started bleeding. He got violent and started kicking my abdomen and punching my face besides trying to push me off the train. I tried to save myself by grabbing onto the handle outside the exit door preying almighty that the train would reach the station soon. He however kept kicking on my wrist to loosen the grip. I couldn’t hold on to it much longer and fell off the train,” she told local media.
