A wedding party in Madhya Pradesh also got out of hand when a liquor dispute escalated into an assault on a bride, groom and their relatives in Gwalior district. The accident happened on Tuesday night in Patai village within the limits of the Aron police station, and several relatives of the groom were injured.
The police officials stated that the fight started when a group of neighbours who were present at the wedding insisted that they be served liquor during the celebrations. The tension rose and soon turned into a physical fight when the groom, who was known as Mahesh Jatav, declined to serve or finance alcohol.
Manish Yadav, the City Superintendent of Police, said the dispute became a violent confrontation between the two factions shortly. This became worse when the bride was already in the house of the groom and post-wedding ceremonies were in progress.
The mother of the groom claimed that the accused had not only assaulted the family members, including the newlyweds, but also assaulted her and her husband when they attempted to interfere. She also alleged that cash and household stuff was stolen in the commotion by the attackers.
The victims were injured and even received treatment of minor injuries. The police have filed a case and put an investigation to find out and arrest the people who were involved in the assault.
Police have promised to deal with the accused harshly and the accident has caused a question of the security and the law enforcement in large social event in the countryside.
