Dr Mohan Yadav, chief minister, has mentioned that the people are the greatest strength of a government in a democracy. The state is progressing towards holistic development with the cooperation of the public. The suggestions of citizens have been invited in the preparation of the 2025-26 budget. Also, there is participation in major festivals in the state. Likewise, the ‘Jal Ganga Samvardhan’ campaign that was launched on March 30 also emphasizes public participation.
This state-wide initiative aims to overcome the problem of water scarcity through maximum usage of rainwater. The campaign will continue till June 30, beginning from the banks of the Shipra River in Ujjain. Governor Mangubhai Patel and Union Minister of State for Law and Justice, Dr. Arjun Ram Meghwal, were present in the launch event.
CM Mohan Yadav said that the ‘Jal Ganga Samvardhan’ is a mega campaign to conserve every drop of rainwater every summer. In the next 90 days, different water conservation structures will be built and inaugurated daily. This will greatly increase the amount of groundwater in the state. In the hour he urged citizens to save water because it is important both for humans and nature. Despite this, the state government continues to desire to conserve water, forests, land, and wildlife.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s water conservation movement, which has taken the shape of a nationwide mass campaign, was lauded by the Chief Minister. According to the principle of ‘water from fields remains in fields, water of villages stays in villages,’ the state government is also working. It conducts a campaign for rainwater harvesting and rejuvenation of water bodies and adopting water conservation methods.
It will be of great importance for raising awareness of water conservation. All concerned departments were directed by CM Yadav to give immediate top priority to water conservation projects and get as many citizens as possible involved.
