Madhya Pradesh: Defying the statement issued by the state Education Minister, Home Minister Dr Narottam Mishra said- There is no dispute about Hijab in Madhya Pradesh. There is no proposal under consideration with the govt regarding Hijab, so there should be no confusion. Narottam Mishra issued the above statement while pressing the important decisions taken in the cabinet meeting.
The Hijab controversy rippled across borders on Tuesday. Madhya Pradesh Education minister Inder Singh Parmar decided on behalf of discipline and a uniform clothing code while the Karnataka High Court pleaded for peace in connection to a petition by five female students in support of headscarves. In a press briefing, he stated that the state govt has begun drafting its proposal which shall be implemented from the upcoming academic session.
The Hijab row that began in Karnataka saw escalated protests, on grounds of which CM ordered all schools and colleges to shut down for three days. Hearing the plea filed by five students, the state HC posted the matter for hearing today for the second time.
Across Madhya Pradesh, nearly 1.25 lakh govt schools are set up, where there is provision for school uniforms. The state funds the uniforms of students from Class 1 to Class VIII.
