Sidhi district is known to be a tribal-dominated area, where the Sanjay Tiger Reserve, established in the Kusmi region, is considered a zone. As part of the All India Tiger Estimation 2026, a survey is being conducted here after approximately four years. Responsible departments are assessing carnivorous, herbivorous, and arboreal wildlife. Separate teams of 250 employees are working for this purpose. These employees include people from Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, and other states.

Sanjay Tiger Reserve’s Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Sudhir Mishra stated that a survey of carnivorous animals has been completed. Herbivorous wildlife is also to be assessed. He added that it is heartening that tiger footprints are now being found in some areas of the Sanjay Tiger Reserve where tiger footprints were previously unrecognized. Furthermore, a survey of other species will soon be completed and a report will be prepared.
