A three-year old child was brutally assaulted by a stray dog in an outrageous event in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh as he played outside his house. The victim, who was named Praveen Kushwah, was seriously injured on his face and was bleeding profusely. At Gwalior, his family members took him to J.A. Group of Hospitals (Jayarogya Hospital) with the critical condition, where doctors gave him an anti-rabies injection and referred him to the Super Specialty Hospital where he received higher treatment. He is even in a medical care with severe facial and other injuries.
The gruesome event that happened in Kariyawati district of Gwalior has again raised the alarm of the emerging threat of stray dogs attacks in the city. The dog bites cases have never been stopped, according to the locals, and this has caused fear among the locals and more so to parents who have young children. The child was playing outside, unmindful of the threat, which highlights the issue of the safety of the population in residential zones.
In reaction to the increased cases of dog bites, a municipal corporation commissioner Gwalior, Sangh Priya admitted that cases of dog bites usually rise during the season. He said that the local authority is making attempts to solve the problem by establishing another Animal Birth Control (ABC) center at Janakganj that should commence very soon. The new plant is hoping to manage the population of stray dogs by sterilizing and vaccinating dogs.
Municipal Corporation has gone so far as to give an advisory to the masses that they should report the occurrence of aggressive or stray dogs in their neighborhoods by calling the dedicated helpline numbers. The government has promised the citizens that complaints will be dealt with in a timely manner to ensure that no more such incidents occur. At the same time, the child is still under medical care because the city tries to deal with the very pressing facility of proper management of stray dogs as well as to improve the level of the city security.
