The administration of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh has done something unprecedented by rewarding the efforts of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) who had done a great job during Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. Having noticed their effort, the officials took them on an exclusive air tour as a reward, which is seldom experienced in election-related tasks.
Under this program, the BLO Supervisor of the post, Snehlata Patel went on an aerial tour with the PM Shri Heli Tours Service. She had a picturesque helicopter flight between Jabalpur and the two well known wildlife reserves of Kanha and Bandhavgarh. This special experience was given to her as an appreciation to her efficiency and dedication through the completion of the given tasks under the SIR programme.
Additional benefits, such as cash rewards and movie tickets, are also being offered to BLOs by the administration in terms of the air tour. The concept of the provision of movie tickets is to assist in the reduction of stress and give the field-level officers a recreational break as they are usually pressured to make sure voter registration is done correctly.
The district administration has initiated a methodical movement to recognise all BLOs who played their significant roles in the SIR drive. Those who had made it through digitization of 100 percent of their enumeration sheets of their booth were felicitated. The district government also reports that 73.34 percent of the total number of enumeration sheets are digitized.
There are 19, 25, 472 registered voters in Jabalpur district. Among these, the enumeration data of 14,12,151 voters has already been computerized and this is a good step towards verification and updating the electoral records. Officials declare this success to be a result of the efforts of ground employees and their effective performance of verification operations.
Through these special incentives, the administration will not only be rewarding outstanding performers; it will also be encouraging other BLOs to be very accurate and dedicated in future electoral exercises.
