A tragic incident took place at 5 pm on Sunday in Rerua Kala village of Nagaud police station area of Satna, Madhya Pradesh. Two sisters died after drowning in an old borewell pit in the field. The body of a girl, Somvati (16 years), daughter of Chakku, was already recovered. The body of the other girl, Durga (12 years), daughter of Santosh Ahirwar, was stuck in a 20 feet deep pit. With the help of local people, the family informed the police. Late night, SDM Jitendra Verma along with the police administration and SDERF team reached the spot. Water was drained by digging the embankment with the help of JCB, after which Durga’s body could be recovered. The accident has shaken the entire village.
According to the information, Somvati’s body was recovered a few hours after the incident, while Durga’s body was recovered by the SDRF team at around 2 o’clock late night after a rescue operation that lasted for about seven hours. This incident happened on Sunday evening when both the girls went to the field to wash their feet after transplanting paddy. It was told that the borewell of Gajanand Mishra’s field was open, and both the girls went into deep water as soon as they stepped into it. After the information, the district administration, police and rescue team reached the spot.
Recently, Chief Minister had given instructions to close open bore wells. After this, the collector had instructed all the officers in Satna district to identify such places and close them so that no accident happens. But this accident exposed these instructions. Despite the collector’s instructions, this bore well remained open, where two girls died by drowning. After recovering the bodies, a Panchnama was done and they were taken to Nagaud for postmortem late at night.
