Jabalpur: Rani Durgavati University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Rajesh Verma, is the target of a thorough investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) over serious charges of harassment. The Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered the investigation because it was dissatisfied with the previous one.

As the proceedings went on, the SIT questioned Vice Chancellor Rajesh Verma and several teachers, technicians, and the then registrar. A list of questions was written to determine the events and the claims involved in the case. In addition, those who led different Rani Durgavati university departments were also asked many questions.

CCTV videos from all around the university were seized by the SIT team in order to support the investigation. The University has announced these steps as a result of allegations stating that Professor Verma made lewd gestures and said inappropriate things to a female officer on November 21, 2024. Authorities in Bhopal were made aware of the issue, but no strong steps were taken.

Because nothing had happened despite her pleas, the female officer decided to go to the court to seek justice. In response to this order, the High Court of Madhya Pradesh asked for a Special Investigation Team to be formed by three senior IPS officers not affiliated with the Jabalpur district.

The court has allotted the SIT a deadline of June 16 to give a detailed report. At this stage, the investigation uses the evidence and what people have said to help find out if any important information about the accusations was set aside.
