Using someone else’s or a falsified identity card for travel in the Indian Railways will soon be more dangerous. Indian Railways has made a major choice to tighten its checks on passengers who use fake or borrowed identification. Anyone illegally using fake identification will now face strict consequences and might be taken to the Railway Police.
Now, in addition to their old powers, the TTEs will verify people’s identities by using the official mAadhaar mobile app. This way, the railway authorities hope to end situations where passengers use others’ identity documents to board trains, which has happened several times in the past.
It will provide the means for TTEs to confirm the correctness of any passenger’s Aadhaar card. It is even more useful that the app works offline, so it’s possible to use it on trains without being connected to the internet.
As a result of this step, security and fair ticketing will be improved. With the help of the mAadhaar app, the railway authorities can ensure that only those with legitimate papers can get on board.
Using fake IDs in these trains is not allowed and may lead to being taken off the train and handled by legal authorities. If needed, the case could be reported to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) for further examination.
All passengers on Indian Railways are advised to have their valid ID documents with them and should not give these out to anyone. By activating mAadhaar verification, authorities are now able to deal with any misuse.
