Hindu leader Pravin Togadia has come out strongly to the paid darshan system at the Mahakaleshwar Temple at Ujjain saying that worship at religion should not be sold. In an address at a two-day Hindu convention held by Rashtriya Bajrang Dal and Rashtriya Mahila Parishad in Ujjain, Togadia explained that the move is to enhance the Hindu unity in the country.

Togadia declared a massive outreach programme in order to reach 10 crore Hindu families by reciting the Hanuman Chalisa. He indicated that volunteers would use door-to-door distribution of copies of the Hanuman Chalisa as a part of a larger campaign to avoid religious conversions and cultural consciousness. He says that the movement attempts to develop what he termed as a secure, prosperous, healthy and self-reliant Hindu society.

Speaking in making peace with the latest conflicts between Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Togadia stated that his 40-year long relationship with the spiritual guides of the two leaders. He hoped that the two would iron out their differences amicably and asked them to reconcile.

The convention will have about 5,000 office-bearers representing the entire country of India and will contain about 1,600 meetings within the two days. Togadia indicated that it is aimed at holding Hanuman Chalisa recitations in one lakh sites every year especially on Tuesdays and Saturdays and ultimately linking 10 crore Hindu families across the country.

He further elaborated a social welfare element, where even in the course of the campaign families will form a handful of grain that will be handed out to poor families as a part of religious mobilisation coupled with community support activities.
