Gwalior: When the power went out for a long time near the house of State Energy Minister Pradyumna Singh Tomar in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, action was quickly taken. News of a power failure started to arrive late last night, and the minister decided to personally investigate the areas affected.
The inspection started at Patali Hanuman, and Tomar found out that electricity was interrupted in Tansen Nagar. According to local residents, because of the power outage lasting three to four hours, the heat and humidity in the air created a great deal of discomfort.
As soon as he learned about the accident, Minister Tomar told officials to suspend the Junior Engineer in charge of that area. Because of the suspension, other officials were reminded to take care of customer complaints and keep public services running effectively.
Apart from Patali Hanuman, the minister visited Phoolbagh, Transport Nagar, and Motijheel to make sure the power supply there keeps operating smoothly. He went to the local call center for electricity to find out how complaints from customers were managed. During phone calls with customers, he updated them that their complaints were being handled fast and ordered his team to get the problems solved as soon as possible.
Tomar told Nitin Manglik, the Chief General Manager in charge, to take steps to have the city’s electricity back online and avoid future outages.
Such efforts by the Energy Minister display the government’s focus on accountable and effective governance when a steady power supply is particularly important.
