Dhar: As a measure against illicit drug-related crimes, the police of Dhar in Madhya Pradesh have uprooted and eradicated 70 marijuana plants grown illicitly in the vicinity of a cotton field in Limdapura village of the Manawar police station area. The total seized plants are 155 kilograms. The police raided Chirakhan village based on a lead and realised that the cannabis plants were grown among cotton crops in a bid not to be easily noticed.

The case has been filed under sections of NDPS – Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Unfortunately, the person who conducted this form of illicit farming is still on the loose, and attempts to arrest him are being conducted.

The operation was conducted by Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Anu Beniwal and the Station House Officer (SHO) Ishwar Singh Chauhan. They said that an informant had informed law enforcement agencies of the unlawful conduct. Not wasting a moment, the police stormed the farmland of one Galsingh and found the concealing marijuana plants. The plants, after being confiscated, were measured and then seized by the proper authorities.

In turn, the SHO was quick to point out that this has been the tenth large-scale operation against banned narcotics in the region for the year so far. The police continue to monitor and prevent such illicit incidences while they are bent on eradicating drug-related incidences. In the meantime, the police investigation for the arrest of the accused person goes on, and authorities are optimistic that he will be arrested soon.

This operation demonstrates that drug barons always use farmland to farm illicit substances, claiming to be cultivating the legal substances. It has become apparent that police work and garnering public support is useful in handling this menace and guaranteeing a safer society.
