Bhopal: In the special court of the capital Bhopal, charges have been framed against 22 members of the banned organization People’s Front of India (PFI) who were apprehended in Madhya Pradesh. The prosecution’s allegations have been presented in court by the legal representatives of the accused. The investigation team has gathered multiple pieces of evidence linking the accused to terrorist training under the guise of a fitness center, a jihadist mindset, and involvement in anti-national activities.
The special NIA court in Bhopal received the charges, suggesting a significant development in the case. It is reported that there are more than 1500 active members of PFI in the state, with 22 currently held in Bhopal jail. According to available information, investigations by ATS and NIA revealed that PFI members were planning major terrorist activities. It’s noteworthy that the central government imposed a ban on PFI in 2022, leading to raids not only in Madhya Pradesh but also in various states across the country.
Madhya Pradesh witnessed stringent actions against PFI, resulting in arrests in cities like Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore, Shyopur, and Malwa-Nimad. After the crackdown, 22 members of PFI were taken into custody. The investigation uncovered that the accused, under the banner of PFI, were providing training to youth under the pretext of fitness training, aiming to equip them with weapon-handling skills.
The ban on PFI by the central government underscored concerns about its alleged involvement in activities contrary to national interests. Following this, coordinated actions were taken in multiple states, and Madhya Pradesh played a pivotal role in addressing the activities of the organization. The arrest of 22 PFI members is indicative of a broader effort to counter potential threats and activities that jeopardize the nation’s security.
As the legal proceedings unfold in the special court, the case against the PFI members is expected to shed light on the extent of their alleged involvement in activities that pose a threat to the integrity and security of the country.
