Bhopal: A 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl in Khajuri after sedating her on Wednesday night. Police said that the survivor alleged that she was sleeping with her grandmother in her room on Wednesday night when the accused Arvind Vishwakarma, 20, who resides in the neighbourhood allegedly, barged inside and covered her face with a cloth laced with sedatives.
Police said that when the survivor protested, he smothered her mouth as she could not raise an alarm for help. Thereafter, he fled the spot. The survivor informed her parents, who were sleeping in the other room. A rape case under sections of IPC and POCSO Act was registered and the accused was nabbed.
In another incident reported at Bag Sewania police station, a 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a youth on the pretext of marriage for around two years. The case was reported at the police station on Wednesday after the accused went back on his word.
Police said that survivor, a resident of Bag Sewania, stated in her complaint that around three years back she came in contact with accused Nishant Jain, a resident of Arera Colony. Nishant runs a medical shop near a private hospital in Area Colony.
