Indore. There is big news for the cricket lovers of Madhya Pradesh. The state’s biggest cricket tournament MPL Scindia Cup, is going to be organized in Indore this time. Before the tournament, a player draft has been organized in Indore today for the selection of players. The player draft will decide which players will be included in the teams from different cities in the state. Mahanaryaman Scindia, Chairman of the Governing Council of Madhya Pradesh Cricket League, will specially attend the draft program. This time, Maharani Priyadarshini Raje Scindia will also be present in Indore for the formation of new women’s teams to promote women’s cricket.
For the first time, women’s teams will also be in the field
This time a new history is being created in the tournament. For the first time three women’s teams will also participate in MPL. The names of these women’s teams are:
- Chambal Gharial
- Bundelkhand Bulls
- Bhopal Wolves
Women players will get a chance to showcase their talent and women’s participation in cricket will be promoted. Women players will also be selected during the player draft.
In this player draft, special attention will be paid to those players of the state who have earned fame at the national level with their game. Players like Rajat Patidar, Ankit Verma, and Ashutosh Sharma will be the center of attraction for all the teams in this draft. There can be a tough competition among the team owners to include these players in their team.
Last year’s grand opening in Gwalior
Last year, the Scindia Cup was inaugurated at the Madhavrao Scindia Stadium in Gwalior. BCCI President Jai Shah, legendary cricketer Kapil Dev, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav attended the inaugural event. In the first season, five men’s teams competed, in which Jabalpur Royal Lions performed brilliantly and won the Scindia Cup. This time the scope of the tournament has become even bigger, in which teams of both men’s and women’s categories will show their strength.
