Balaghat: The Madhya Pradesh government has also been planning to work on the construction of houses for police personnel throughout the state. Some years back, construction irregularity were noted in flats in Balaghat in a project estimated to cost ₹31 crore. Unfortunately, the architect made the mistake of overlooking some key errors in the architectural plan and structure, which could have caused a lot of monetary losses. But when the matter was exposed, the Madhya Pradesh Police Housing Corporation did not waste any time in reversing the wrong.
In the course of the study, some modifications were made to the project to suit the government’s needs, and in the process, the government saved several crores of rupees. The confusing one involved issues to do with backwaters, whereby the problems could develop other complications for the housing units in the longer run. This problem was solved successfully, and the corporation presented a full letter with information to the government. Further, they transferred the flats to police personnel and their families so they could live in safe buildings.
After realizing the issue was caused by bad design, an extensive investigation was carried out, and the Police Housing Corporation fought the culprits. The firm that the architect worked for and was held responsible for the blunders was blacklisted. Subsequently, concerted efforts were made by the department to guarantee the success of the project without other hitches. From this project, planning and designing consumed so much effort by engineers in redesigning the flats to proper standards, and the housing units are now completely waiting for people to occupy them.
The Police Housing Corporation has also presented the report on the solution of all the problems as well as the completion of the construction plan to the Home Department and Police Headquarters. Soon, the police personnel of Balaghat will shift to their new houses with their families as the corporation responds quickly and shows the intention of providing good-quality housing.
