Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh state’s School Education Department has taken an initiative to spread awareness and practice of yoga for all the state’s residents. In this regard, the Madhya Pradesh Yoga Commission has been set up under the chairmanship of School Education Minister Uday Pratap Singh. In all 52 districts and 313 development blocks of the state, the formations of district and block-level yoga centers are completed. By the way, yoga committees have also been formed in 4,000 villages and 356 urban wards.

Therefore, the Madhya Pradesh Yoga Commission’s office website www.mpyogaayog.in has been developed and is under the control of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to support this effort. The information available on this portal includes all that a yogi requires to know about the Commission, district & block level yoga officials and those who are a part of the “Yoga Se Nirog” (Health through Yoga) programme.

District Collectors have also been asked to allocate suitable buildings and land for the smooth functioning of the Chief Minister District Yoga Training Centers, through letters. At present, there are 14 Yoga centres operational in Gwalior, Morena, Datia, Rajgarh, Raisen, Sehore, Shajapur, Dewas, Neemuch, Seoni, Chhindwara, Narsinghpur, Damoh, and Shahdol districts.

In addition to that, the Yoga Commission also offers a 10-minute yoga protocol that includes simple yoga poses (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditation, especially for school students. This routine is being implemented during school prayer sessions with the help of district yoga officials. Furthermore, relevant agencies have been given a one-hour protocol for free yoga classes for the general public, which has been provided to the yoga committees to conduct such sessions.

The Directorate of Public Instruction also issues a yoga panchang (calendar) for the smooth conduct of yoga activities year-round. The preparations for the grand celebration of the International Yoga Day on June 21, 2025, are already underway to make the celebrations very broad-based and involve more people in yoga practices.
