Bhopal: The election of the chairman of the newly formed Madhya Pradesh State Hajj Committee will be held today, December 6. The chairman of the committee will be decided in a process lasting 3 hours. Bhopal MLA Arif Masood is also included in the 12 members list who are participating in the committee. There is a discussion about his claim of the chair. However, he says that he will not stake a claim. In such a situation any other member can get the chair of the chairman.

Masood is a Congress MLA from Bhopal Central Assembly. Apart from him, one member each was also appointed from Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ratlam, Chhatarpur, Bhind, Katni, Sheopur, Singrauli, and Sehore. Masood is the only MLA in the 12-member committee and is the main face of the Congress. However, the other MLAs are not showing any interest in contesting the elections.

Election Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department has appointed Deputy Director Dr. Nilesh Desai as Election Officer during the meeting at the Hajj House. The meeting and election process will be held at Hajj House Village Singarcholi, Airport Road, behind Gulmohar Garden.

The election program schedule is as follows:

  • Nomination papers will be presented from 11 am to 11.30 am.
  • Nomination papers will be scrutinized till 12 noon.
  • Nominations can be withdrawn till 12.30 pm.
  • Voting will be held till 1 pm.
  • Counting will be done from 1 to 1.30 pm.
  • Results will be declared at 2 pm.

The government has appointed members to the Madhya Pradesh State Hajj Committee. Among them, Bhopal’s central assembly constituency MLA Arif Masood, Irshad Meo from Ratlam, Bilal Ali from Chhatarpur, Irfan Khan from Gwalior, Qazi Furkan from Bhind, Haider Ali Mahuwala from Indore, Mehmood Khan from Katni, Amir Baksh from Bhopal, Rafat Warsi from Sheopur, Rosena Qureshi from Jabalpur, Jammu Beg from Singrauli and Shabana Anjum from Sehore have been named in the committee.
