The old tension regarding the wheat buying price in Madhya Pradesh has been over. In a huge announcement made by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav during a farmers convention organized in the Sagar district, Banda, it was confirmed that wheat will be purchased in the state this year at the price of 2600 per quintal.
The Chief Minister made it clear that the minimum support price (MSP) of wheat at Rabi marketing season 202526 is set by the Central Government at 2585 per quintal, an increase of 160 above the MSP of 2425 last year. Based on this, the state government will offer an extra incentive of 15 per quintal, which will make the overall rate of procurement to 2600 per quintal.
The MSP of the Centre last year was 2275 per quintal, and the Madhya Pradesh government had given a huge incentive of 175 per quintal, which amounted to 2450. The state incentive has been cut to 15 this year but the net profit accrued to farmers is high since even the Centre has increased the MSP by a significant percentage.
CM Mohan Yadav pointed out that the state has not changed its commitment to the farmers. The Madhya Pradesh prosperity is the prosperity of farmers. Our administration is committed to the welfare and happiness of all the food suppliers of the state and they are constantly motivated by this, which explains why the administration is concentrated on the agricultural growth and the farmers.
This move will be a great relief to the lakhs of wheat growing farmers in the state who were waiting to get the picture regarding their procurement rates against the market dynamics. Government will also provide in detail the guidelines that will be followed during the procurement including registration dates and required documentation. Through this announcement, the state prepares a gilt-edged and a comfortable buying season that will see monetary stability and confidence in the farmers.
