Addressing a joint press conference, senior Congress leaders in Madhya Pradesh led by its MP in Rajya Sabha Digvijaya Singh, PCC Chief Jitu Patwari, party in-charge Harish Chaurasia, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar, and MLA Phool Singh Baraiya, made a brutal attack on the BJP and the RSS. They have accused the ruling party of coaching history by going against national heroes such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and now Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
As Jitu Patwari explained, Madhya Pradesh has now become a nursery of the BJP and the RSS ideologies, and a program is on to confuse the real architect of Indian constitution. First Gandhi, then Nehru and now they are going after Ambedkar. According to him, “Even a poster in Gwalior said that it was not actually Ambedkar that made the Constitution, it was B.N. Rau.” Patwari accused this misinformation as part of the continued agenda that started with the statement of Amit Shah, the Home Minister, in the Parliament, which he says was disrespectful of Ambedkar.
Digvijaya Singh furthered that B.N. Rau was not a member of the Constitution Drafting Committee; rather could he only be consulted as a jurist. The accusation that Rau wrote articles of the Constitution is distorting. He said the intervention of Dr. Ambedkar is being downplayed in this which is a part of an ideological fight. Why can a statue of Ambedkar not be made at the Gwalior High Court like in the Supreme Court also enquired Singh.
To create awareness about the contribution of Ambedkar and the Constitution, Congress has declared that it will have a three-day campaign between June 23, 24, and 25. Such activities are the door-go-door work, slum meeting discussions, as well as a one-day fasting in Gwalior that was attended by MLAs of the party. Congress vowed that whoever made efforts to change history will be opposed and Ambedkar wealth legacy will not be discredited.
