Shahdol: This would be a major jolt to Congress in the Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh. Eleven party members, including the President of Jay Singh Nagar Municipal Council, joined BJP today. This manoeuvre thrust all these members who had changed their loyalty to the BJP out of the Congress party. The dissidence in MP Congress has not only intensified but also increased its pace; unfortunately, it has become a regular update these days, and Congress leaders and workers are joining the BJP.
The Congress has also suffered a major blow today wherein several members from the Congress Committee of Jay Singh Nagar Municipal, comprising the Block President and the president, have joined the BJP. This change was seen due to heightened BJP dominance across the region and clearly reflected the Congress’ lack of fundamental support behind it. It is regarded that the defections are caused by the dissatisfaction of some Congress members with the party’s policy and its leadership, as some of them switched to the other political side. These developments may shape the local political processes of Shahdol and the future electoral campaigns and coalitions in Madhya Pradesh.
