Madhya Pradesh: Naik Jitendra Kumar, the PSO to Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat, was cremated with full military honours on Sunday at his ancestral village Dhamanda in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district.

Paying tribute to the deceased, CM Chouhan on Sunday announced ex-gratia of Rs 1 crore and promised a govt job to the family of Veer Naik Jitendra Kumar. The announcement came through a tweet on CMs handle which read- “I pay homage to our martyred son Jitendra Kumar Ji who lost his life in the helicopter crash, Ex-gratia of Rs 1 crore will be given to the family of the martyr, wife, daughter Sunita will be taken in government service.” He further added to name a school after the Jawan under the name Amar Shaheed Jitendra Kumar Vidyalaya. To hour the sacrifice by the soldier, he also announced the constitution of a memorial in Dhamanda Village.

 The Bhopal state hanger on Sunday received the mortal remains of Verma, who hailed from Sehore district. Public dignitaries, military officials, administrative in charge paid tribute to the braveheart at the Bhopal airport. Later the mortal remains were ferried to his ancestral village for the last rites which were performed by his brother in presence of Verma’s father and 13-month-old son.

Verma was one of the personal security officers for the CDS Bipin Rawat who accompanied him on his way to Wellington on December 8th when the chopper crashed.
